Role Overview
The Associate Vice President / Senior Manager for Healthcare is a high-level leadership role responsible for the operational excellence and regulatory integrity of the Bangalore Bioinnovation Centre (Section 8 not for profit). This position demands a unique blend of technical mastery in Health/Biotechnology/MedTech/Life Science laboratory management and the strategic ability to foster a thriving innovation ecosystem. You will oversee world-class infrastructure, ensure stringent regulatory compliance, and run programs and lead human capital development initiatives that bridge the gap between academia, industry, and government.
Key Responsibilities
- Laboratory & MedTech Infrastructure Management: Manage the end-to-end functionality of MedTech labs. Oversee procurement, installation, calibration, and maintenance of high-end analytical, diagnostic, and Bio-IT instrumentation. Act as the lead consultant for startups.
- Regulatory Affairs & Compliance: Serve as the primary coordinator for the Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBSC) and the Institutional Ethics Committee (IEC). Facilitate statutory approvals and develop rigorous SOPs.
- Skill Development & Talent Management: Lead skill development programs in association with industry and government bodies. Design and manage internship modules and build an industry-academia bridge for placements.
- Startup Mentorship & Ecosystem Building: Support startups with technical validation and regulatory pathways. Foster tripartite partnerships between industry, academia, and government. Provide insights into IP management, tech transfer, and commercialization strategies.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Education: Ph.D. in Life Sciences, Biotechnology, Biomedical Engineering, or a related healthcare discipline is mandatory with Post doc or industry experience.
- Experience: 12–15 years of significant experience (For women candidates 3 years relaxability) in laboratory management, research operations, or a leadership role within a biotech/healthcare incubator or industry setting. Proven track record in handling IBSC, IEC, and regulatory frameworks.
- Competencies: Deep understanding of healthcare laboratory instrumentation and MedTech product development cycles. Strong ability to interface with senior government officials and academic deans. Excellent technical writing skills. Exceptional mentorship, communication, and problem-solving skills.
