Role Overview
The Engineer – Civil & Utilities will be responsible for overseeing civil infrastructure, utility systems, and facility maintenance at BBC. The role ensures efficient operation, safety compliance, and timely execution of civil and utilities-related works within a high-end bioinnovation ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities
- Civil Works & Infrastructure: Supervise construction, repair, and maintenance of buildings and infrastructure within the campus. Coordinate with contractors, consultants, and government agencies (e.g., PWD) for project execution. Review drawings, BOQs, and technical specifications for civil works. Monitor project timelines, quality standards, and cost control.
- Utilities Management: Oversee operation and maintenance of utilities including Electrical systems (LT/HT panels coordination), Water supply & plumbing systems, STP/ETP systems, HVAC coordination (in collaboration with MEP teams). Ensure uninterrupted utility services for labs, pilot plants, and incubation facilities.
- Maintenance & Operations: Plan and implement preventive and corrective maintenance schedules. Maintain records of facility operations, repairs, and inspections. Manage AMC contracts and vendor performance.
- Safety & Compliance: Ensure compliance with statutory regulations, safety norms, and environmental standards. Support audits related to safety, fire systems, and building compliance. Implement best practices for safe operations in a biotech facility environment.
- Coordination & Reporting: Liaise with internal teams, incubatees, and stakeholders for infrastructure requirements. Prepare technical reports, progress updates, and budget estimates. Assist management in planning infrastructure upgrades and expansions.
Qualifications & Experience
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering (mandatory). Additional certification in Project Management / Facility Management is an advantage.
- Experience: 3–6 years of experience in civil construction, facility management, or utilities management. Experience in institutional, industrial, or lab infrastructure projects preferred.
Required Skills & Competencies
- Domain Knowledge: Strong knowledge of civil engineering practices and utility systems. Familiarity with BOQ preparation, tendering, and vendor management. Understanding of STP/ETP, plumbing, and building systems. Basic knowledge of electrical/HVAC coordination.
- Software Proficiency: Proficiency in AutoCAD, MS Office, and project tracking tools.
- Competencies: Problem-solving and analytical thinking. Coordination and stakeholder management. Time management and multitasking. Attention to detail and safety awareness.
Preferred Experience
- Industry Experience: Experience in biotech parks, research institutions, or incubation centres. Exposure to government projects and compliance frameworks.
