Role Overview
The Manager of Analytical Instrumentation at the Bangalore Bioinnovation Centre (BBC) is responsible for the leadership and operational excellence of the core analytical facility. This role focuses on high-resolution mass spectrometry and advanced chromatography suites, ensuring that startups and industry partners have access to world-class chemical analysis, method development, and validated data.
Key Responsibilities
- High-End Instrumentation Management: Direct the operation and maintenance of LC-MS Q-TOF, Triple Quadrupole (LC-MS/MS), GC-MS systems, advanced HPLC, GC, spectrometry and related chromatography platforms. Assist users in developing and validating analytical methods.
- Operational & Technical Administration: Manage Annual Maintenance Contracts (AMCs) and coordinate with OEMs. Maintain meticulous service logs and lab notes. Oversee the procurement of high-purity solvents, columns, standards, and specialized gases.
- Facility Commercialization & Support: Lead the commercialization of analytical services. Provide technical expertise to startups on characterization, purification, and impurity profiling.
- Training & Mentorship: Design and lead specialized training programs and workshops on Mass Spectrometry and Chromatography. Manage the internship program and facilitate student placements.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Education: Ph.D. or Master’s in Analytical Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or Chemistry.
- Technical Expertise: Minimum 5–8 years of hands-on experience with Q-TOF and Triple Quad systems.
- Knowledge Base: Strong understanding of sample preparation techniques and analytical software (MassHunter, Empower, etc.).
- Management: Proven ability in vendor management, facility commercialization, and lab documentation.
