Role Overview
The Manager of Lab Management at the Bangalore Bioinnovation Centre (BBC) oversees the operational excellence and technical integrity of our core research facilities. This role is a strategic blend of hands-on technical supervision, facility administration, and ecosystem development. You will be responsible for ensuring that high-end instrumentation remains at peak performance while driving the commercialization of lab services and mentoring the next generation of biotech talent.
Key Responsibilities
- Advanced Facility & Instrumentation Oversight: Manage and operate a high-end instrumentation suite including Flow Cytometry, RT-PCR, Confocal microscopes, plate readers and Thermal Cyclers. Maintain service records and manage AMCs.
- Specialized Lab Management: Direct operations of Molecular Biology & Genomics, Microbiology & Fermentation, and Cell Biology & Immunology wings.
- Operational & Commercial Excellence: Streamline procurement of chemicals/reagents. Strategically promote and commercialize equipment usage. Ensure biosafety compliance.
- Ecosystem & Talent Development: Provide technical consultancy to resident startups. Design and lead technical training modules and manage internship programs.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Education: Master’s or Ph.D. in Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, or Life Sciences.
- Experience: 5+ years in laboratory management with deep expertise in molecular and cellular techniques.
- Competencies: Strong vendor management skills, experience in facility commercialization, and a passion for mentoring students and startups.
